Introduction

A partnership that benefits farmers in remote areas.

In an effort to revolutionize livestock management services for farmers worldwide, Sateliot has teamed up with Streamline, a leading IoT solution provider of the livestock management in South Africa .

The collaboration aims to overcome the limitations of traditional cellular IoT devices by providing seamless satellite 5G Narrowband IoT(NB-IoT) connectivity to 400,000 5G IoT devices deployed by Streamline by the end of 2023.

This strategic partnership enables farmers in remote and out-of-coverage areas to access advanced livestock management solutions, facilitating expansive growth and enhancing both farmer and livestock safety.

Challenges

Challenges in cellular IoT livestock management.

Conventional livestock management relies heavily on cellular IoT ear tag devices to monitor and control the spread of contagious diseases, such as Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD).

These devices also assist in tracking animals' locations, preventing cattle theft, and enhancing overall farmer and livestock safety.

However, the accessibility of such technology is limited, as most farmlands lack cellphone coverage, making it challenging to deploy and maintain 5G devices.

Partnership with Sateliot

Connect the unconnected.

Streamline, a South African company specializing in livestock management, aims to deploy 400,000 cellular 5G NB-IoT devices by the end of 2023, with a long-term goal of reaching 7 million devices globally.

With a substantial livestock count of 7.95 million in the South African market, Streamline's traditional approach depended on conventional cellular connectivity, which posed challenges in out-of-coverage areas.

By partnering with Sateliot, whose Non-Terrestrial Networks act as cell towers in space, Streamline's 5G NB-IoT devices gain the ability to function seamlessly in areas without terrestrial network coverage.

Sateliot Solution

Sateliot's innovative 5G NB-IoT technology.

Sateliot's satellite constellation is the first to offer 5G standard connectivity from space, revolutionizing IoT markets globally.

By eliminating the need for conventional cell phone coverage and offering low device-to-satellite transmission costs, Streamline's services supported by Sateliot become more efficient and cost-effective.

This not only benefits Streamline and the end-users but also grants farmers greater flexibility in operating in previously uncovered areas. To achieve this result, we've also collaborated with AWS (Amazon Web Services). AWS will provide the necessary infrastructure and support for seamless integration and smooth functioning of the satellite 5G NB-IoT connectivity solution.

Conclusion

Sustainable agriculture with satellite IoT.

The collaboration between Sateliot and Streamline marks a significant milestone in the world of livestock management, breaking barriers posed by limited cellular coverage and high device maintenance costs.

By leveraging Sateliot's 5G NB-IoT satellite connectivity and Streamline's expertise in livestock management, farmers worldwide can enjoy enhanced livestock monitoring, disease control, and theft prevention.

This advancement underscores the rapid growth and potential of the IoT market, promising a more sustainable and efficient future for the agricultural sector.
